Accessibility

Last Updated: October 21, 2026

David English Academy should work for people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, captions, videos, or a larger text size. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This page describes what the site does today and how to tell us when something gets in the way.

How the site is built

  • Pages use headings, landmarks, and labels so assistive technology can follow the structure.
  • Buttons, links, and form fields can be reached and used with a keyboard. The control you are on stays visible.
  • Text is meant to stay readable against its background in both the light and dark themes. You can switch themes from the footer.
  • Images that carry meaning include a text description. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.

Lessons, video, and speech

Course and JAM lessons include short videos hosted on YouTube. The YouTube player has its own controls, including captions when that video has them. Captions and transcripts are not available on every lesson yet.

JAM practice asks you to record yourself speaking. Recording needs a microphone and permission in your browser. The result is written: you get a transcript and written feedback on grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and phrasing, so you can read it.

If you cannot record, watch a video, or use another part of a lesson, email us. We will help you find another way to use the material.

What we do not control

  • YouTube supplies the video player. Its controls and caption support follow YouTube.
  • Paid checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy. Those pages follow their own practices.
  • We have not completed a formal third-party audit, so this page is a statement of our aim and our current practice. It is not a conformance claim.

Feedback

If a page or feature blocks you, email david@davidenglish.info or use the contact form. Include the page address and what you were trying to do. We will reply and work on a fix or an alternative format.
